Grey.scale - The Wireless EP [DPREP002] is dedicated to the memory of Timothy Charles Smith: 1961-2020

Tim Smith was the Lead Singer, Guitarist and principal Song-Writer of the cult British band Cardiacs, a group whose music is a huge inspiration for both Grey.scale and Aranha, the founders of Dead Pest Records.

In fact the very name Dead Pest Records is a reference to the Cardiacs song "Song Of A Dead Pest" from their 1999 album "Guns", with Grey.scale even playing drums on a cover version of "Song Of A Dead Pest" recorded by the band Dogstand in 2012 and released in 2013 - www.youtube.com/watch?v=WboNi9yWFeQ

"The Wireless EP" is inspired directly by the Cardiacs song "Wireless" from the 1996 album "Sing To God: Part One", serving as a sort of mini concept album that reinterprets and retells the story found in the lyrics penned by Smith, with all four track titles coming directly from these lyrics.

The Wireless EP follows the fate of Jenny, a young woman who takes her own life only to find that her ghost becomes trapped inside of her wireless radio.

RIP Tim, thank you for the wonderful body of work you left behind
